I have bad wrists and breaking down boxes was the job I put off all week. This one I just hold and push. Whole garage done in one go.

Why the utility knife in your drawer is a thing of the past

A box cutter has one dull edge and no power behind it, so you supply the force and the motion. The Boxhound Electric Box Cutter is cordless, guarded, and does the cutting for you.

Powerful cutting without the wrestling

While a utility knife makes you saw, stab and fight the tape, the Boxhound Electric Box Cutter does the cutting for you — in a tool light enough to live in the kitchen drawer.

Cuts cardboard in one pass

The cutting wheel is driven, so you are guiding it rather than forcing a blade through. Hold the box steady, squeeze, and push. Packing tape does not slow it down, and the box folds flat behind you.

I receive deliveries almost every day, and BOXHOUND makes cleanup incredibly fast. It cuts through thick cardboard smoothly without the strain of using regular scissors.

Thumb on the safety button, fingers on the trigger

Two actions before it ever spins

Your thumb sits on the safety button on top, fingers on the trigger underneath. Hold the button, then squeeze - the trigger on its own does nothing. It is the grip you would use anyway, so it never feels like a safety catch, but the blade cannot start on its own in a drawer or in your hand.

We process dozens of boxes every week. This cutter has made the job quicker, cleaner, and much easier on my hands. It’s now one of our most-used tools.

Ten-edge rotary blade

The blade is a ten-sided wheel that spins as it cuts, so all ten edges share the work instead of one spot grinding flat. It powers through thick double-wall cardboard without complaint, and when it finally does dull it swaps out in about a minute.

I was surprised by how effortlessly it cuts through heavy cardboard. The comfortable grip and built-in light give me excellent control, even during longer cleanup sessions.

Built-in LED lighting the cut line

A light where you need it, and a charge light so you know

The front LED lights the cutting area, helping you see clearly even in dark corners. Color-coded indicators show your charge at a glance—green when full, amber when low, and red when it’s time to recharge. Power up easily with any USB-C cable you already own.

After moving, we had a garage full of boxes to break down. BOXHOUND helped us finish everything quickly and saved my hands from hours of cutting.

Guarded and under control

The wheel runs behind a guard and only cuts what it is pressed into. A loose blade skids off taped cardboard and comes back toward your hand. This one tracks the cardboard instead.

We use BOXHOUND every day to open shipments and prepare cardboard for recycling. It feels durable, cuts consistently, and keeps our workspace much more organized.

Breaking down boxes used to wreck my hands. This little cutter goes through cardboard so much faster than scissors or a utility knife. Cleanup after Amazon day is actually quick now.

I run through a ton of boxes and packaging on jobs and this thing just holds up. Light, cuts clean, and I’m not fighting it like a box knife. Hand isn’t wrecked at the end of the day either.

Cleared a garage full of old shipping boxes in one afternoon. Way faster and less messy than doing it by hand. Wish I’d bought something like this years ago.

Frequently asked questions We’ve got all the answers

It is built for cardboard, so boxes, packaging and anything on recycling day, and packing tape is no obstacle. It also handles carpet and underlay, fabric, leather, foam board, plastic packaging, twine, netting and zip ties.

Yes. It handles double-wall shipping boxes, appliance cartons and the heavy stuff furniture arrives in — rated to 6mm of cardboard. Packing tape does not slow it down either.

Charge it over USB-C and leave it in the drawer. You get 30 to 45 minutes of continuous cutting per charge, which is far more than a pile of boxes takes. The colour-coded light on the handle tells you what is left before you start — green, then amber, then red — so you are not caught out halfway through.

Yes. Lay the box flat, hold the safety button with your thumb, squeeze the trigger with your fingers, and push forward at a steady pace. Two deliberate actions start the blade, which is what stops it firing by accident. Nothing to set up, nothing to adjust.

A long time. The blade is a ten-sided wheel that turns as it cuts, so all ten edges share the work rather than one spot wearing flat. When it does eventually dull, a replacement lifts in and out in about a minute, and spare blades are available.

It takes two deliberate actions to start - thumb on the safety button, then the trigger. The trigger alone does nothing, so it will not fire on its own in a drawer or in your hand. The wheel also runs behind a guard and only cuts what you press it into. It is still a cutting tool though. Adults only, and it goes away out of reach of children.
